Visa gets rejected because of following reasons only
1)Possible immigration
2)Lack of documents
3)Lack of funds
4)Criminal records
5)Low Scores
If ur visa application gets rejected the reason will be mentioned. Your best option is to supplement new information explaining how your conditions have changed since the interview.
This post is to warn ALL the visa aspirants who are
planning to go visa interview with FAKE FINANCIAL
documents.
I myself caught by visa embassy people on Aug 3th
2006 for providing Fake FINANCIAL Documents, final
result is my passport was kept under 212 A 6 C 1
section - meaning PERMANANT INELIGIBILITY for entering
into USA.
I was asked to go to Delhi for VISA by my consultancy (Jubliant) and i went trusting thier word and i was sent back to Chennai.
I am a medical graduate and my final aim is to get
into residency programme. I had taken my step 1 & 2
with good score 98 & 98 percentile. I had spent few
lakhs and couple of years time into preparation, and i
had got a great dream to fulfill. ALL THIS WENT TO
VAIN BECAUSE OF CONSULTANCY WHICH PROVIDED ME WITH
FAKE DOCUMENTS charging 30000 rupee.
I Warn not to go to consultancies for financial
documentaion. If you get caught, consultancy people
willnot take any responsibility.
These days frequency of verfying documents has
increased to 1 in 5 students and may be 2 in 5 for
this semester. So Be cautious you are not blacklisted
by taking fake documetns.
Here are few consultancies which are blacklisted:
a) Jubiliant Consultancies, Begumpet. HYD
b) S.V Consultancies, Mehdipatnam. HYD
c) Overseas Consultancies, Secundrabad.
d)XXXXXX
Better stop going to a consultancy who are giving a I-20 from ITU, which is not a University at all. Students are facing trouble with this
consultancy. One thing you remember most of the Consultancies main aim is to earn money, ethics, morales will never be in their dictionary.
If you are approaching them then it is 1st mistake in your visa process. If you didn't check the documentation they provided then your visa and your career
will be in absolute danger. Sometimes you may get permanent ineligible status.

If you got rejected first time people/Consultancy geeks may suggest you to do different passport.
They will tell, if you were caught just say I lost my passport.
Please don't even think about going with second passport, I know one issue like this
who got permanently ineligible status now.

I attended for my Visa in Nov 2006 at Chennai.
Visa officer looks like Chinese but he is very gentle. After all the formalities
I entered in to the main building, before that you will encounter some desi lady officers
I guess they removed the word smile from their life dictionaries(I pity their husbands).
Don't feel bad by their behaviour.

My Experience is pretty simple
Before me there were couple of candidates looking for their H-1B visa.
He granted them the Visa, sounds positive note for me.
Now its turn, I approached him said Good morining.
He is very polite he said "You are here for..."
Immediately I said, I am planning to MS in USA and I looking for my F-1 Visa and I gave my
documents.
He asked why this Univ?
I said "this Univ had good VLSI program which is my major Area of interest ,
I also exchanged couple of emails with the prof regd my Bachelor projects my interests in the VLSI program
". I showed him the response from the Prof also.
He just looked in to my documents he granted me Visa.

I got my F-1 Visa to University of New Mexico at Delhi Embassy Yesterday.My Interview lasted for arnd 15 minutes , he had checked each and every document except GRE/TOEFL score reports.It was very cool and I answered every question confidently. My interview went in this way ....

I am happy to get my visa for Northern Illinois University for Fall
2007 to do MS in CS. Thanks to all whoever helped me in preparing for
exams, applying for university and getting my visa. Thank you very
much for all those kind-hearted people. I would like to share my
experience so that it may help the needy.
I intend to go to NORTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY for doing MS in CS for
Fall 2007. My interview was scheduled on 4 MAY 2007 at 7:00 am at
CHENNAI EMBASSY. I went to embassy at 6:00 am and waited and at 6:45
am the security guard started allowing people in. First, they will
check our passport and our visa interview conformation letter. After
checking them I was allowed inside where our bag containing all
documents will be checked to see any CD's or so. Men will be checked
with metal detectors and women will be done in a seperate closed
lobby. After that I was asked to wait for 5 minutes and then I was
asked to go to other building.
In this building first, my VISA FEE ie HDFC FEE RECEIPT,Sevis fee
receipt,Passport, Visa interview conformation letter and DS FORMS were
checked. My photo on DS FORM was scanned and the one HDFC bar
code(yellow one) will be fixed on my passport. If everything is good,
they will put all this documents in blue cover and will hand them to you.
After this, I was asked to go and sit. Then I was shown the way to
give my finger prints which I did. Then later all people who finished
finger prints where asked to sit and wait. When Interview was about to
start we were asked to form a queue. Then interview started and after
30 minutes my turn came.
I was appearing for Northern Illinois University for doing MS in CS
for Fall 2007. My interview was only 5 minutes.
VO : Come in
ME : Good morning Sir, How are you doing.
VO : Fine, Thank You !!!... When did you completed your under graduation.
ME :( I didnot hear him clearly since he was standing away from the
mic) Pardon me, Sir.
VO : When did you completed your under graduation.
ME : April 2005
V0 : After that what were you doing.
ME : I was working as a software developer for XXXX
VO : How much did you earn.
ME : I earned Rs XXXX per annum. ( I had evidence of this from my company)
V0 : What was your under graduation percentage.
ME : I complete my under graduation in First class with distinction
with 70.67%.
VO : Thats good, Can I see your mark sheets.
ME : I gave him, BTECH individual marks sheets,consolidated marks
memo, convocation certificate, Inter and 10 marks memo.
He didnot see all. He just saw my convocation degree and was satisfied
with First class with distinction on it.
V0 : What are your financial plans for your MS
ME : We have Fixed deposits of Rs XXX. and LIC Mutual funds of RsXXX.
I was about to continue
VO : OK...If you have them can I see them.
ME : Sure Sir!!! and gave them the original FD's and Mutual funds.
VO : What is your mother and father.
ME : (I said there designations. ) Father is xxxxx in xxx
Mother is xxxx in xxxx
Now he gave a smile and started to sign my DS Form with Red pen. Then
I was sure that I made it. Then came the words which I was dieing to hear.
VO : Congrats..I am issuing your visa. You will get your passport later.
ME : (Now I smiled) Thank you Sir...Have a nice day.
Thats all.. It was just 5 minutes and I got it. Main thing is you must
answer with confidence and just see into his eyes. Never try to peep
into monitor or even to keyboard when he is typing. Just look at him
all the time and be confident about yourself. If you have
self-confidence in you..YOU CAN SURELY GET IT..

Yeseterday I got my F1 visa at Chennai consulate. So I like to share my experience and want to give some tips to you.
When my turn came I went to the glass window and stand there. After visa officer completed his work in the computer he looked at me and said?????.
VO: Hello, How can I Help you?
ME: Hello, Good morning and passed my folder to him.
VO: Why you choose the Illinois institute of technology?
ME: Because of it is best out of my admits.
VO: So you are working with wipro Technologies from nov 2005? (he asked this by verifying my DS form)
ME: Yes, I was selected in the campus interview.
VO: (bit impressed) Oh you got selected in the campus inteviews? Can you show me your GRE and TOEFL score records?
ME: I have given the my score covers to him and he verified them.
VO: what is your parents?
ME: My father is a government officer working for past 31 years and my mom is a House-wife.
VO: How are they going to fund you?
ME: We have ** lackhs of money which is sufficient for my education. (Here I was a bit more enthusiastic and told him) I have proofs also. My father is very much interested to send me for my higher education.
VO: Smiled and said no need.
VO: Can you show me your marks sheets?
ME: I have given my OD (original degree) first saying ?that this my Original Degree? and then given all my semester marks lists.
VO: How much % you got?
ME: I have aggregate of 71%
VO: How many backlogs do you have?
ME: I just smiled and told him I have only one back log. And while he is seeing my back log certificate I told him that is the only one back log I have.
VO: He smiled and gave me back my certificates , and I20 then told me you are granted F1 visa and will get passport in the next 2-3 working days.
My dear friends before going to the consulate even I was thought getting visa is luck/fate. But when I went there I had a completely different experience. My appointment time is 7:45 A.M. They allowed me to enter into the consulate around 7:50 ( I was in the queue with all the 7:45 slot people out side of the consulate). You don?t have any hurry in the queue or about time. Be patient at every time. When I entered and done with my finger printing I sat in the chair and waiting for my turn. One visa officer came and he addressed the people with his nice speech. It has doubled my confidence. He is the vicechanceller and working for 15 years in the visa consulate.
His speech goes as follows:
Hello Good morning people and introduced himself. I am giving the tips to get your visas and if you people are not following the tips chances of getting the visa will become worse.
1) Greet the visa officer by saying hello. In a day half the people forget to say because of the nervous. So don?t be nervous and say hello.
2) We can asses by viewing each person what is the purpose he is going to us? And he pointed one person beside him and immediately told that this guy need B1/B2 Visa for training in his project in US. Yes, He was right. He the told ? I told because by seeing the shirt (TATA logo) and the tag in his neck.
3) Please give only the Consulate folder. ( Consulate will verify all your DS-forms, I20, passport when you entered and put it in a folder and returned to you. Then you will be directed to a different building. This is of VISA issue building.)
4) Don?t give any other documents to VO unless he asked. He said all the remaining doucments are only to support the forms in the consulate given folder.
5) Because accents is different put the effort to understand what is he asking? Pay attention , listen, understand and asnswer the questions.
6) Finally he warned all the people who put fake certificates. He said, we are right 95 times out of 100. If we are sure that your documents are fake we reject you and the chances become worse for next times also. We allow you to play $100 but second and 3rd times also we reject. We don?t tell you the reason why?
So my suggestion is people who are giving the documentation to the consultancies verify twice or thrice make sure you don?t find any mistakes in your documentation. Otherwise you will be the looser. So know what is in the documents exactly. Read them understand them. Know the purpose of the different documents. Don?t foget to write your name in your native language on DS-157 or DS-158. Don?t make any mistakes in filling these forms.
You will have enough time to present the documents the visa officer has asked. Don?t be hurry in searching a document. Remember and practice where you have kept the documents in your folder. Be patient while standing in the line. Be attentive. Each interview last for 1 or 2 minutes only. Put your all efforts to be confident and pay attention. Be honest in your answers. Be concise also. Dont give long stories to them. Answer to the point and confidently, truly. That is enough. I guess this will help you a lot in getting your visas.

VO:Tell me the truth, because i need to use lot of resource here to
find out, if i find this money is not in the account that's for sure i
will put permanent rejection on your passport and not only that i will
made you site in India, you will not get visa for any other country also.
ME: I will wait, sir.
VO:Ok , go and wait i will call you later
After 2 hours he called me
VO:We found your document are true and i am giving you visa
Me:thank you sir.
And i came to know from Bank Manager that they made inquiry on my bank
statement on that day.
Most of the people got visa only one person in front of me got
rejection.I feel tensed at first but lated it's all gone.So be cool
and answer to the point and don't give unnecessary answer and don't
pull yourself into the loop.

ME: yes sir (but he did not ask me to show)

i attend my visa interview on may 11th 2007 at chennai and
i got visa. i am going to do masters in mechanical engineering at
university of new orleans....
i would like to share my experiance with u...becoz i have seen all
messages fro i20fever and many things from that help me a lopt. so i
think people who r going to visa will get something from my exp.
i have 75% in my under graduation but i have 1060 in GRE and 210 in
TOEFL. so i was in low confident before going to visa.. two days
before i took many of suggetios from no of people. all of them give
different suggetions. then i tensed up more and more...... my sinecre
suggetions is dont take too many suggetions before going to visa...
my interview time is 7 45.........
In the cosulate office, one officer giving lecture abt how visa
processing going on there at 8... at that time i have shown very much
enthusiam and confidence there... 3times that officer observes me..
just i have listen evrything what he said with a smiling face. that
lecture boast me up in my case. before that i was very fearful in that

I am going to University of XXXXXX(Removed upon the request) for Mechanical Engineering.
I have received TA and full fee waiver. Here how it was:
My interview was on 10th May 2007, 9am. I went to Mumbai consulate at 8 am. There were hardly 10 people, so i got to enter inside right away. (showing Interview appointment letter and HDFC pink receipt)
After security check i was allowed to enter.(dont carry MOBILE)
They took my I20 and Passport, also interview letter and attached it with the VISA documents that i submitted at VFS 5 days back. and told me to proceed to Counter 1 for Finger print. Also gave me a pink token.
After finger print, they took DS form packet, passport and i20 and told me to wait for my token no. to be called.
After 1hr 45 mins, My token no. was called by VO at window 12. He called three tokens together. I was last to reach and had to wait. VO approved visa to both the guys. My interview was most simple:
I entered his cabin. Said Good morning and gave my pink token.
VO: good morning
VO: So which course are you going for?
Me: MS Mechanical Engineering
VO: How many universities you applied?
Me: Eight
VO: How many admits?
Me: 4 admits, 2 awaiting
VO: How is your undergraduate scores? like First class, second class?
Me: First class with Distinction
VO: Excellent
VO: Can you name all the eight universities, if you can remember?
(we exchanged smiles, as it was a catchy question)
Me: I told around 7 names and then was thinking
VO: Its okey if you missed one or two names

I got my visa in hand now..they posted my passport and visa in one and a half day.. (Five years valid one)

I got my visa on 15th May 2007 for Masters in CS at Lamar University.
First, I thank Naveen, Vijay and all the i20fever team for their guidance and assistance. I attended their mock interviews, which helped me a lot.
My slot was at 8.00 AM
My turn came at 10.15 AM and VO is a lady aged in her late 40?s
This is how the interview went
ME: Good Morning Madam, How r u?
VO: Hello, very good morning, I am fine and how about you?
ME: Fine Madam, here is my folder
(Passed the green folder, which was given in the first building containing Passport, i20, DS forms, SEVIS fee receipt print and interview appointment letter)
VO: Ok, give me your GRE, TOEFL scorecards and B.Tech Memos
(She was typing something after looking score cards)
(She didn?t even touched memos, had a casual look on provisional certificate)
VO: Ok sir, why you have chosen this particular university?
I am saying about the courses, Comp Sc dept and the specializations offered.
She interrupted me when she heard the word Algorithms
VO: Tell me about that subject Algorithms
I continued my answer, though she was busy with her work on computer and not looking at me.
After finishing her work she stopped me and asked how I am going to fund my education
I said about the savings we had and was about to take the documents to show
VO: NO! I don?t want to see any of your documents; you just look at me and answer. What?s your father?
ME: He worked as a bank officer for 29 yrs and now he is retired.
VO: Which bank?
ME: Told
VO: Where do you own your agricultural lands or other lands, properties?
ME: (surprised with this question)
We don?t have any agricultural lands, but we own independent house in Hyderabad
She then asked some questions about my family members and what they were doing.
After 1-2 minutes, she said the golden words, ?your visa is issued and passport will be couriered in 3 days?
That?s it, the key is Confidence.
What I want to say is:
Be cool & confident
Have an eye contact with VO
Flash a smile, whenever possible
Speak clear and loud
Have good body language.
Have good knowledge about your program
Don?t show any documents unless asked
Then, You are almost through

Hi friends, This is SSSS from hyderabad. I got Visa to
Villanova university pensylvania. Congrats to all thos who got their
visas and All the best to all those who are attending the
Interviews. I am vary thank full to the group members for their
valuable support.
Let me strt the interview process..iam avoiding all the pre
interview stuff. My appiontment time was at 7:45Am. After the finger
scanning we were seated.at 8-45 3 counters were opened.Nancy
occupied the counter no 3.4th counter was occupied by a frenck beard
guy. 5th counter by some cute lady.3rd and 4th counters f1 visas and
h1 visas. Nancy gave the frst 2 h1 visas. French beard man was
issuing 6 visas out of 10.we were stand in the line where we cannot
change the counters.nancy rejected 8 f1 visas continuously.she was
veryfying each and every financial document, all the bank pass
books,... and every usefull/useless stuff.
I stand in the 4th counter.He was asking few questions
checking bank statements and giving visas 2 out of 4. 2 persons
infront of me got visas.Their interviews lasted for 2-3 min each.My
interview goes like this.......
VO: signed with his eyes to come in.
Me: wished warmly.. Gud mrng sir..how r u?
Vo: Laughed at me with a pleasant smile.
Me: I passed the folder
VO: He took my I20 out looked at the univ name looked at me and
smiled again
Me: A simple smile..

ME: My parents are going to sponcer me..
Vo: U will get ur visa in courier..
Me Thank u sir ,have a nice day..
Thats it frnds he dint ask any of my document not even my original
marks memos gre/toefl score cards..today(19th may) evening i
received my passport with visa stamping for 5 years..
My sincere suggestion is..
1) Wish the Visa officer
2) Dress up neatly(Dont wear tie).
3) Fill ur DS forms correctly..

The VO was looking at computer during the entire interview
and some times watching me to observe my body language. Be confident
and be loud. Think that you have all the right in this world to
receive a VISA,if a person with 16 backlogs( not me i have no backlogs
:-) ) can then why don't I and you are not standing before them for a
visa but you are giving them an opportunity to earn money by pursuing
your masters there by paying hell lot of money.

It is so easy to get the VISA. As I saw we have to prepare to convince the VISA officer. One girl before me has all the documents and got transactions and genuine bank statement with around 1.5 crore. but rejected. she want to say something to VO.But he said that documents are good but we have many other factors for rajection. one girl had already rejected and he asked about any change from last time, but she didnt tell anything. VO said i cant suspect the other VO, so i am rejecting ur VISA. He asked for about 1 min regarding any change. she didn't even open her mouth.

I have been longing a lot to write this mail. Surely it is a wonderful experience to get a VISA. My interview was scheduled at 8:00 am on 21st May 2007 at Chennai. I was allowed in at 7:45 am. I am going to Polytechnic University, Brooklyn.
Firstly they check your passport and interview appointment letter. Then you are directed to counters after checking for any CD,floppys or electronic items. At the counters we have to submit DS forms,passport,HDFC bank receipt,SEVIS fee receipt and I20. Then the photo on DS form is scanned and other documents verified. Then they are put in a folder and given to you. Nothing should be added or taken out from that folder. Then we are directed to other building,The VISA lobby.
In that building fingerprinting is done. At the counter you should give your passport and put your left and right index fingers in the same order on an equipment which scans the fingerprint and stores in computer. Then passport is returned.
Then people are called according to the appointment timings and are made to stand in queues and directed to counters where visa officers take interviews. I got my chance at
10:50 am. I went to a lady(aged about..i could not come to a conclusion, but was definitely old and white). She had approved a VISA to the one before me.
My interview is as follows:
VO: Hello
me:Good Morning Mam. How are u doing?
VO:fine..
I passed my folder to her and before she could ask anything i started.
me:I am proud to inform that i have been a dictinction student throughout my student life and I have no backlogs in my entire education career(I told stumblingly). I have secured 80% in my B.Tech, 95%...
VO:ok. Talk when u are asked.
me:fine mam.
VO:Pass on the proforma,marks memo,GRE and TOEFL score sheets.
me:I dont have the provisional certificate since my results were announced day before yesterday.
VO:Its OK. Course completion certificate is enough(I took it from college).
me:I passed the memos and GRE and TOEFL score sheets.
VO:Why do you want to go to Polytechnic University(showing the list of four universities in the GRE scoresheet)
me:I have applied only two univ. One is Poly and other is UAH. I have chosen Poly because it offers the course in which i am interested i.e Image Processing. Also it offers advanced courses like Medical Imaging....(told confidently)
VO:Ok.What does your parents do?
me:My father is into the the business of cement trading and my mother is a home maker.
VO:What is the annual income?
me:told
VO:Show your financial documents.
me:showed the CA certificate
VO:Show the passbooks
me:showed(all were genuine)
VO:(after typing something)I am issuing you a multiple entry VISA for five years. Although it is 5 years you should return to India after completion of your course.

And I have the VISA in my hand one day after my interview at 11:40 am on 22nd May.
I have a sincere advice to all students. PREPARE YOUR OWN ANSWERS AND PRACTISE THEM BEFORE MIRROR. It might look silly but it works. It has worked for me.

okay friends.. this mail is dedicated to all those who think they have a low profile... low gre low tofel..loads of arrears.. ... well i personnelly was kinda tensed abt getting my visa.. and i know it must be the same with people of my category(i meant i got low scores.. gre 900 ,tofel 220 ,b tech 69%,and loads of arrears ).. all it matters is ur confidence ,ur attitude and ur finances(pls friends dont take any fake documents..especially bank statements.. the VO gets very pissed off if he just gets a hint of ur docs being fake)
here it is ..my appointment was at 12:45.. went there exactly by 12:50(i am always late).. so no waiting i directly went inside..
got my folder and waited for some two hours.. and finally got my finger verification done.. and was waiting for my turn.. it seemed all scary ..but as i kept moving forward i did gain confidence seeing all the interviews being taken.
was observing all the VOs.. wat i notices was females and old guys are always very messy .. so friends prefer someone young.. i was standing infront of counter no 4.. and this guys rejected some 4 F1 visas(they all had huge cash in their bank account..and was very clear tat they were fake)... but i made my mind and didnt change my que.

ME:my parents will support me. they are working in XXXX. and i have a bank loan too.. to be in the safer side.

and , do not xaggerate ur purpose for masters too . a person before me , said tht he wanted to be a physiotherapist for the indian cricket team , n he needed masters for that purpose.... it sounds ridiculous for a VO who screens hundreds of people daily .
basic strategy is ....
be confident , do not panic even if ur docs r fake , look straight to VO eyes ,answer to the point .... visa will b urs
visa officer is always there to issue a visa... just giv him a reason to do so ..

My Visa appointment was on 24th may 8:15 am. I reached there at 7:30, by that time there was already a long Q outside VFS. I waited for half hour outside and exactly at 8, gaurds called those with 8:15 appointment time. In entrance we need to show Passport and appointment confirmation letter, later we will be cheched inside for any electronic devices and even sealed envelopes.. I had one envelope with transcripts which they opened and returned only papers.
later we were allowed to sit for about half hour and then to stand in q for document verification. There were many counters, who where all Indians. They checked our DS forms and then we were allowed inside visa lobby.
There they took our Fingerprints from index fingers of both hands. then we were allowed to stand for visa interview..
we had a long line, and I was standing in line for counter no. 5, where a good looking VO (Lady, around 30-35 years, I hope) was taking.. I t took around 1 hour to get my turn. The guy just before me did not get visa because of some finacial documents (fakes, I hope).. Then when it was my turn
Me: GM mam, How are you?
VO: GM.....( Busy with some thing)
VO: Pass me the folder, Which univeristy?
ME: (Gave floder) ISU
VO: give me you marks card and individual memos..
Me: I am for PhD mam
VO: Ok, Sorry, Give me GRE, TOEFL and Degree marks card.
Me: Gave
VO: who is your sponsorar?
Me: I got TA and complete tution fee waiver
VO: (checking i20) Its not mentioned in this?
Me: Yes mam, But I got a separte letter stating my support package..(and I handed over it)
VO: (read completely for one min) Ok you will get your visa in 2-3 days through courier, Thank you

Thats all friends, she did not cehck any other documents. it was over within 5 mins.. Once if we show our financial support there will not be any problem.

I got my Visa on 29th of May 2007 in Chennai for Cleveland State University.
Firstly my Profile :
B.Tech : 71% ( First Class with Distinction )
and 2006 passout.
Presently working in CA ( Computer Associates).
G.R.E : 1050 ( 300 and 750 )
Toefl : 87(out of 120)
On the day of interview i have almost seen hell ( and of course heaven in the end ) , i stood in the line for more than four hours.
My interview appointment is at 1:15. So i reached there by 12:15 and i went into the line at about 12:45 ( waited outside for half an hour) ...Then i stood in the line in the HOT sun for more than a hour. Then i went inside and got through the pre-check at about 2'o clock. Then i saw a very big line ( almost consits of four big rows ) and then a person came and called the 12:30 appointments....after half an hour ...he called the 1:15 appointments....By that time only i was tired......Then i stood in that big line....and almost stood there for 2 hours....Then i went inside...stood again for 1/2 hour for finger prints....
There were around 14 counters and each have a differnt line.......but the first three counters have the same line and i was asked to stand there( it was a mix of B1, B2, L1,J1 and others)......That was a big line too...and among the 3 counters if any one finishes ther interviews...we have to go.....After half an hour my chance almost came up......The person before me was a F1 and he got rejected....I went there with confidence...and

me: Good Afternoon Sir ...Ho w r u Doing ? ( I think he did not hear anything)

I did not even open my file......SO guys just be confident.......and one more ....dont prepare the same answers as u see in this site....Becoz when im in the line one of the Visa officer came talked with us..... and said .....dont give the common answers which u find in i20 fever site......Like why this university means dont answer something like it suits my profile and all......try to prepare some answers of ur own......and also those who have appointments at 1 ....eat well and go...Thats it.....

VO- french beard person( as most of us heard that he's issuing visa's easily to students but that day he rejected 1 person front of me( whos working in infosys) for F1 visa ).
but that did not effect me because i was having all genuine documents so full of confidence.....

I am XXXXX, got admitted at The University of Tulsa in PhD in Petroleum Engg for Fall 2007 with Doctoral Teaching Assistantship and Tuition Fee waiver.
My Visa appointment was on 29th may 2007 10.45 am (my Sr.No is 3 even at 10.45 am). I reached there at 10:30 since it is mentioned in the guidelines that we should not go inside more than 15min before the scheduled time. There was very less number of people (not more than 12). In the entrance we need to show Passport and Appointment Confirmation letter, later we will be checked inside for any electronic devices and even sealed envelopes. There were two counters for checking Visa Documents. One Indian Lady checked my DS forms and told me to do some corrections (like in the place of IIT, Indian Institute of Technology etc). My term came after 10min. I was called and taken my finger prints. Immediately VO started interviewing me.
VO: told something I did not hear him.
Me: Good Morning sir, h r u doing?
VO: Belated happy birth day (My B'day was on 25th May)
ME: Thank you very much sir
VO: So, u r studying in IIT?
Me: I have completed my M.Tech in IITG and Presently I am doing my research there.

Me: It is related to petroleum and recently we have filed an Indian Patent (I felt that I got a chance to sell myself).
VO: Explain me ur project
Me: I have explained him about what I did and doing.
VO: can I see ur resume

VO: What is IRIS (it is in my resume)?
Me: It is the biggest national fair in India, only 5 projects were selected for the fair throughout the India (for group 4 category) and mine is the one among them ( again self dabba), and I showed him the certificate.
VO: good/great (I did not hear him properly).
He told me to carry my I20 when I will be going to USA and also said that I will be receiving my passport through courier to the mentioned address.
Friends, after my interview, I strongly feel that there will not be any problem for the students who are having full funding (I was not even asked what is my father).

Before i tell u da saga of my visa rejection, i`ll give a brief of myprofile(well, thats wat the admins request, right?) :1)I have completed Btech - CSE 2003-2007. my aggregate is 62% with 8 backs.(JNTU)2)GRE : 1270, verbal:490, quants:780, awa:4.03)TOEFL : 280, essay: 5.0I started applying to universities in october 2006 and the followingare the universities that i applied to (i did it on my own, noconsultancy):--> Montana State University, Montana,--> North Eastern University, Boston,--> West Virginia University, Morgantown,--> New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark.My applications were rejected in all the universities except NJIT.I received an I-20 from NJIT, along wid a 25% fee waiver for the firstyear.I had NJIT as my last option and so i had no other go but to go forit. I took the visa appointment for 22nd May, that was yesterday. My appointment time was 845AM. I entered the visa block by 815am or soand i had to wait till 130PM for the interview.I dont know how they work, but today there were only 2 or 3 officerstaking interviews for students, BEP visa applicants.As it was getting late, the head of the consulate of chennai, Mr.Marksat in counter#2 when i was just the 4th person in the queue. I wasasked to go and stand at his counter. I was the 4th person heinterviewed that day. Among the first 3, the 2nd person's visa wasrejected.I was very confident when i approached him, seeing the kind of peoplegetting the visa. As usual i greeted him wid a hello and goodafternoon. He took my visa application form and also the I-20, hecircled NEWARK,NJ and NJIT in the application form. Then he asked formy GRE score. I gave it to him. he checked the universities to which isent my scores. n ya...NJIT was not among them.He asked me "wat are the expenses?", i told him, "sir its $30,900". heasked me wat my dad is and then abt my mother(my father is currentlyworking as Manager-finance in a private firm and before that he workedfor a national bank for abt 20years and my mom was working for thecentral govt and took vrs in 1999). dats it, he took out the visarefusal form, saying, am sorry, i am refusing da visa for you, since isee that you are a potential immigrant, am not satisfied that you willreturn back to india after your studies. I immidiately asked him the reason, he said "I KNOW". then i told him"sir you dint ask me any other question", then he was like "okay,temme y did u choose this university, is it because of ur frnz etc?",i was like "no, my interest is networks n crypto blah blah blah" . hegave me the refusal form checking the first check-box on dat sheet.. later when i came out, i came to know that all the 5 to 6 students whowent to him after me were rejected a visa. so, i really dunno wassupwid da consulate guys. BTW...the other two officers interviewingstudents (one old lady and one guy wid french beard) were giving visasfor 9 outta 10 students.
