I went into the consulate at 06:50 Am eventhough my appointment was at 7 45 am.But I was there at the consulate by 7:00 am.

The VO was a nice girl aged around 30+ years. She was in counter number 1. After finger scanning and waiting for sometime i got my chance at 8Am

ME:GOOD AFTERNOON mam. HOW R U DOING? VO:I AM DOING FINE . HOW ABOUT U?
I immediately passed the folder to him. he has taken out the DS forms from my folder and started seeing them.he was seeing the DS 156 form.

VO:why this University?? ??.
ME: good research.... ......

VO:how many backlogs???? .
ME: 7 backlogs.... ......

VO:%????.
ME: i said........ ..

VO:GIve me your Mark sheets
I gave them

VO: how can u support????? ?
ME:i have balance..... .lakhs... ......... ....

VO:Whats ur father's profession?
ME:he is ............ ..He is having ............ ......... .......
ME: We have bank loan

VO: How u can reapy u r loan
ME: After completeing my MS i want to come bck 2 india and i will clear my loan

VO:Ok fine...I aam issuing the visa....Have a nice day
ME:Thank u sir... thank u

Thats it ....he saw my Bank statement.

I've got my F1 VISA 2day for Fairleigh Dickinson University for MS-EE in SPRING 08

place-mumbai consulate
time-8:30 am

i'll skip the routine and come 2 the interview

ME:FDU- MS in ELECTRICAL ENGG.

VO:what degree u hold?
ME:B.Tech in Electronics& Communication Engg

VO:which college ?
ME:from GVPCOE in visakhapatnam

VO:when did u come here(MUMBAI)?
ME:i've been working here for last 6 months in dad's company

VO:when did u join?
ME:1st APRIL 07

VO:where were u on 31st march?
ME:we moved 2 mumbai on 29th march

VO:when did ur dad start the business ?
ME:2 yrs back

VO:wats ur scope of work?
ME:i work as INSTRUMENT DESIGN engg. my work is ..............blah blah

VO:how much is the fees?
ME:28,030$

VO: u got scholarship?
ME:yes

VO:how will u pay?
ME:we have xxxx$ in total......xxx$ in liquid asserts and xxx$ in fixed asserts
VO:ok.u'll get ur passport in 2 days by courier
that's IT...........I DIDNT OPEN MY FILE

Thats it ....he saw my Bank statement.

I got my visa on nov 14th....UTSA
Bank balance:9.86lacks
Fd's:6 lacks for 1 month
Loan:15lacks
Moveable:7 lacks
Immovable:190 lacks

I was the 9-12 person in the students line for F1 visa....They have separted the students and vistors and made all students to form a new line in front of the some lady VO.... She was very libertly giving the visas..espically how have the good acds....means 70%+ like that Then suddenly an new visa officer opened her counter....I was the 6-7 in the line...there was a person before me.. who was also to the same unviersity....I thought it was not safe for me both back to back same unvier....the person in counsulate told few others before to take a new new line....But ppl before me hestited to go to new visa officer....I took a step forward and when to new visa officer...

she saw me from a distance and had a smile on her face at seeing me...even i also gave her neat smile on my face( maskaaaaa)...I was the second in her line.....The person before me got the visa....I think hew was going to lamar uvnier....nad aslo got funding for that unviersity...Then My turn...morning 7:30 batch
Me: Good morning Mam!!.....With a huge smile on my face
VO: Good morning....How are u doing??
VO: Said UTSA...how did u kown abt these uvniersi?
ME: Told the answer which i prepared

VO: Give me indivula marks memo's
ME: Gave her all the memos i even gave her the migration ceritficate also...

VO: Seeing the certificate asked wht is this migrationceritificate....
ME: As i am plannning to move from one unviersity to another uvniers...The unviers which i am planning requires these migration ceritficate accorind the rules of the unvier....and your unvier issues these ceritifcate saying that we have no objection for these......

VO: hmmmmm....had a look at indivdual marks memo's nad counted the memo's i had 2 backlogs...
ME: Told imm i had cleared them imme next attempt with 80 and 69...

VO: Yaa i have seen that....Good....why haven't u clered in the 1st attempt itself...
ME: Mamm...my health did not premit me to do that mam...

VO: hmmm...ohk....give me your gre score card
ME: gave her the score card

VO: seen it 4-5 seconds....how many schools did u apply?
ME: 4 mam...and told names...

VO: Why UTSA??....Do u have any contact with the professors??
ME: TOLD THE ANSWER WHICH I PREPARED

VO: Howz funding your education
ME: MY father is sponsering mam...

VO: Wht is he doing??
ME: Mam!!!....My father is director and owner of the travelling company of Kanaka Durga Travels and he is being into these feild from 1986.WE manage and schedule vechiles for private and government organizations....we have a contracts from Genpeck,WIPRO,SATYAM...when on saying about my father's job....<< She was seeing me only...while i was telling...even i also maintained eye contact with her i allways had smile on my face >>

VO: whts your annual income?
ME: ...7.80 lacks....<<3.50 from buss+2 lacls agriculure+ 1.80 lacks form rental income>>

VO: Do u father pay the IT returns??...
ME: s mam...and gave her the orginal IT retuns papers..saw it for 10-15 sec and gave back to me

VO: whts your bank balace?...something like these i heard...
ME: I am having...9.68 lacks as bank balance,15 eduactional loan,6 fd's mam!!.....

VO: Have u taken the loan....s mam...15 lacks...
ME: Would like to see the loan sancation letter

VO: Yaa...give me the letter...passed the letter to her...wht's the intreset??....and wht have u given as collatreal secuirty??
ME: told the answer very confidently....

VO: how are u going to pay back the loan...
ME: TOLD THE ANSWER WHICH I PREPARED

VO: OHK...keep your i20 safe...u need to show at the airport....and work hard...and returned back my i20 and kept my passport with her..
ME:Thank u mam...i will definatelt do that.....

The VO officer's are really friendly...They are sitting there 2 issue the visas for us...go and get your visa..Don't get tensed...offcourse even i was very tensed about the interview...but VO looking at me and smileing at me..my entire tension has gone..i felt very confident...Mine was big intreview when compared to other interviews...which lasted for 12-15 min....she asked allmost all q/s possible...if we answer accordinly...she is giving the visa's easily...some say that lady vo's are dangerous...i don't beleive that...they ask u many q/s...that's all...if we are well prepared we can easliy answer all those....

IF U R TAKING THE LOAN JUST KNOW FEW IMPORTANT Q/S...
1>WHT'S THE INTRESET?
2>HOW DID U GET THE LOAN AND WHT HAVE KEPT THE COLLATRELA SECURITY?
3>HOW ARE GOING TO REPAY BACK THE LOAN?...VO HAS ASKED ME ALL THESE 3 Q/S....I HAVE PREPARED WELL FOR THESE ANSWERS...

MY SUGGESTION FOR BOYS:
1>WEAR A GOOD SHIRT...WHICH REALLY HELPS YOU....
2>GO TO THE VO WITH A SMILELING FACE...
3>WISH THE OFFICER...
4>PPL WITH BACKLOGS PREPARE WELL....A DEFINATE Q/S WHY BACKLOGS...EVEN I HAD 2...TAKE SOME UNIQUE ANSWER...DONT JST SAY HEALTH PROBLMES LIKE THAT...THE PERSON NEXT TO MY COUNTER HAD 14 BACKLOGS...HE SIMPLY JUST TOLD HEALTH PROBLEMS...DON'T SAY LIKE THAT...PREPARE FOR some GOOD UNIQUE ANSWER...
IF U HAVE Q/S REGARDING THE VI...FELL FREE TO ASK ME...

hi frds,i got visa 2day on 19th dec.my visa exp is... mine was in the morning at 7:30am.i stood in the line at 6:45am and comleted al formalities and at last went to visa lobby at 7:40am.they opened the counter at 8:20am like that and before me the were around 7 people all for f1 visa.the vo was really cool and he issued visa to all whoever went for interview to him.i was the 5th 4th member and my interview is like this..

me: hello sir,gud morning
vo:hi,gud morning how r u?

me:fine sir,thanq(and passed on my folder)
vo:why did u select this univ?
me :did univ offers masters in EE with specialization in VLSI. as im interested in VLSI specialization i have selected this univ.

vo:(saw my P.C.)ohh u r a distinction student whats the %?
me:77%sir

vo:how can u fund urself?
me:my father is-----and his annual income is-------- and also has bank bal of----and also have immovable property of-----

vo:ok mam ur visa is approved n u will get ur passport in 2 days
me: thanq sir happy Xmas

It was around 8:30 am inside the main block after my finger printing i was at counter 8 ,A fat lady was rejecting visa at a high pace 4 got rejected before me and the person infront of me was interviewed for 15 minutes and she approved him a pink Form ..... but i was very elert and confident .
I was waiting for her call once she called me i crossed the yello line.

Me:good morning madam
vo: good morning,she took my folder and was seing my univEsity acceptance letter, score cards,provisional certificate

vo: You seems to be a distinction student
Me: yes madam

Vo:whihc field are you going ?
Me: told

Vo:typed my sevis numer in her computer
VO: i am approving u r visa .......
Me:Thank u madam,u made my day

Advice :
Never lean or rest u r self on the support that is provided at the counter .it is a very bad habit ,never cross the yellow line untill vo calls ,be confident and dont give irrelavent answers..... and be dressed in a very good dress with a smile on u r face ........ rest will be cake walk as it was for me .......wishing all the indians aspiring to study masters or phd good luck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got visa fr CSUN
my visa interview went like this:

ME:Good afternonn sir
VO:no reply frm him

ME:Good afternoon sir ..how r u doing..
VO:again no reply
he started checking PC n score scards..

VO:u ur gRE score is low?????
ME:sir,initally verbal section was too tough ,i lost the rythm ..there after even after doing well i could nt improve my scores n there was little under prep too

VO:y didnt u retake then????
ME:sir,i thought of retaking it again..but i couldnt find dates mean while i got admission frm my unvi basing on my academic profile.

VO:do u think u can complete MS with this less score
VO:y nt sir..im a distiction student throughout my acdemic career..i have an aggregate of 71.74 in btech n absoultelly no backlogs

VO:k..how can u fund urself???
ME:sir im having imovable properties worth-------- liquid funds worth---------- my parents get an annual income of------- sir i also have a bank loan of ------

VO:ur passport---------
ME:thank u sir..wish u a happy christmas n happy new

The visa officer was quite serious his counter was beside finger frinting in the afternoon session.. he is just looking

This was my visa experience at US embassy CHENNAI.. dec 13th 11am. univ: FDU. BE(EEE): 66.75%. gre: 950. toefl: 81. backlogs:2. was waiting in the q for my turn. uncle sam was the interviewer (fat guy).. three students were rejected visa in front of me.. I was confident/relaxed. i went to him

me: Hi sir, how r u doin?
unc: Good morning..

me: (uncle,i asked hw r u.anyways i dint wait for him, just gave my folder to him) he had a check on everythig and started typing in his comp.

unc: wats ur percentage?
me: 67% aggregate frm 1 to 8 semesters sir.

unc: can i have a look at ur marks cards and test score reports?
me: sure sir. (gave him)

unc: how many backlogs?
me: 2 sir

unc: how many univ did u apply for?
me: 4

unc: how many admits r u awaiting for?
me : 2

unc: which r those univ ?
me : said.

unc: which admit did u get other than FDU ?
me : I'm afraid, cud u pls repeat that for me..

unc: which is the other admit?
me : said

unc: ur parents r goin to sponsor for ur education rite?
me: yes sir, my family

unc: wats ur dad doin?
me: said

unc: wats his annual income?
me: 96,000

unc:(shocked) wat? its less than a lakh, how can u manage with it?
